The Division of Fossil Primates is the main repository for all fossil material belonging to the Duke University Lemur Center. It houses comprehensive collections of African fossil mammals from the Eocene, Oligocene, and Miocene of Egypt as well as Holocene subfossil specimens from Madagascar. These collections provide the primary basis for understanding the origin and evolution of higher primates (Anthropoidea) in Africa and the diversification of lemurs on the island of Madagascar. Ancillary collections include fossil vertebrates from the Eocene of Wyoming in the USA and an extensive collection of recent comparative skeletons of strepsirhine primates from Madagascar.African Mammal Collection Managment performed at the Division of Fossil Primates of Duke Lemur Center
