The Ohio University Paleobiology Specimen Preparation Facility is the primary venue for preparing vertebrate fossils collected by researchers at Ohio University. Technicians and students in this state-of-the-science fossil preparation lab perform mechanical and digital fossil preparation, and mold and cast key fossil specimens. The facility also houses cast collections of African fossil mammals and other vertebrates from the Paleogene-Neogene transition on continental Africa south of the Equator. These research collections contain casts and 3D data for fossils that are pivotal for understanding the origin and evolution of the modern African fauna. Additional specimens include comparative collections and casts of extant African clades.Vertebrate preparation facilities at the Department of Biomedical Sciences of Ohio University
